The Ukrainian army pulled Russian soldiers out of a strategically crucial neighbourhood of Kyiv after a ferocious fight, the war-torn country’s defence minister stated on Tuesday.
After a tough struggle, the Ukrainian army announced it pushed Russian soldiers out of Makariv, a strategically vital Kyiv neighbourhood.
According to the Defence Ministry, this prevents Russian soldiers from encircling the capital from the northwest.
ZAPORIZHZHIA SHELLING
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed in a nocturnal video address to the country that Russian soldiers blasted along a humanitarian corridor on Monday, hurting four children who were among the people being evacuated.
According to him, the shelling occurred in the Zaporizbhzhia district, which was the first stop for refugees leaving Mariupol.
On Monday, around 3,000 people from Mariupol were evacuated, according to the Ukrainian administration.
‘WE WILL EXPRESS OUR POINT OF VIEW.’
Before the Western leaders meet on Thursday, Zelenskyy said he met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and French President Emmanual Macron to coordinate their stances.
“Believe me, our stance will be conveyed and communicated firmly,” Zelenskyy added.
